This past Weekend , May 10 to 12 2013, as the first german Cyclist ever was I able to overcome the route from Flensburg to Garmisch….1100kilometres in 51 hours 30 min and 30 sec…This is the new german solo record in cycling, It was very hard because the weather was really bad……1000 kilometres against wind, a whole lot of rain and temperature was very low, at night only 5 Grad Celsius, everything a cyclist really loves……in addittion to approx…..10 detours due to road construction work…..but nothing discouraged me and Top – Crew…( Gaby-Katja-Markus-Michael-Wolle and the race director Dieter )….Everybody was in high Spirits everytime I stopped at our two Fitline vehicles…..THANK YOU….also to my fans who didn’t let the weather stop them to come and encourage me……The worst part was form Augsburg to Garmisch, 180 kilomertres contionuous rain and storm Gusts of wind….but nothing was able to stop me….I am now the only german with a double record: Run 2001 form the lowest Point in Germany to it’s highest the “Zugspitze” -2964 metres…1154 kilometres in 6 days-21 hours and 15 min. back then world record…4 Marathons per day, still german record and now Bike 2013: 1100 kilometres Flensburg to Garmisch in 51 hours-30min-30 sec…german solo record…..Just like Edi Fuchs ( Extrem-Biker Austria ) had already eaid: Only the really tough ones masters a challenge in conditions like that….THANK YOU – Edi…..And now the Training continious for the RAA in August – 2200 kilometres & 30.000 hm have to be done in 5 days and 12 hours then one get qualified for the RAAM – 2014 USA….My Conclusion: You feel yourself once you reach your own limits….so long…Your Achim….

Hello dear Fans & Fitliner
I am back in good old Germany…..I have been visiting for 4 weeks with my friends Ruth & Tim Mauer-White along with Willi, the pug, in Little Elm right outside of Dallas, Tx.
So I had a training camp in my favorite country and on top of it in Texas….the lone star state….That state is really different and yes, I had some experiences….not only on my bike…the differences in the temperature are really extreme….one day it’s 75 + degrees and the next morning 32….that takes something to get used to and you always have the “WIND” as your companion….coming from the south he is mild but coming from the north he is freezing…in my 25 days of race I havn’t been coldlike this in a long time…but I wouldn’t want to miss one kilometre of it….my cycling tours into the Country have always been a “highlight” ….endless cattle on endless stretches….unfortunately I had to terminate my 1000 kilometre tour to the “GULF OF MEXICO” …..because of cold and danger…cold, it was below30 at night plus the wind….I got frostbite on three of my toes that night….and the danger was to not been seen on the pitch-dark streets of Texas at night….since no american is expecting a cyclist at night especially in this cold temperature….not to mention the trucks owning the streets at night….One of the trucks even stopped at asked me if I was totally out of my mind….I was happy to be back safely at Ruth & Tim after 25 hours….from this day on I only biked during the day….but other then that everything was easy….and because I have been biking so much in the Little Elm area all the Police men were greeting me….I thought that was very funny…..I am already looking forward to my next training camp in Texas in 2014…..because Texas is different and this makes it interesting…..
Now, back at home I keep on working out to achieve the german solo bike record….Flensburg – Garmisch….1100 kilometre in less then 48 hours…..together with the organizer of “Race across Germany” Dieter Goepfert and my new crew 2013…..and of course always on my side are the FITLINE PRODUCTS……specially the new FITNESS – DRINK…..nothing is possible without that anymore…..
ok, so long…..Yours Achim

Dear FitLiner, dear fans, dear friends,
I apologize for not having given any news though there’s actually not happening that much. I take advantage of nice automn season with my bike, about 80 – 100km daily…. however i missed running, as for this reason: four times about 15 km weekly. Now I feel better !
My plans for 2013 are already settled. Should everything run – at the middle of February until the middle of March Training Camp in Texas, thus I would get out of the cold season here in Germany.
Further, 10th May – 11th Mai 2013: Race Across Germany – From Flensburg to Garmisch. So from North to South= 1100km within 48 hours – Solo.
Then a couple of runs and 2 Giga Triathlon at Bodensee …. with Nadine Bacher as FitLine Team.
Finally 2 weeks path in the Alps.
So , and on 14th August 2013, “another” Achim will start new at Race Around Austria – at the so-called RAA.
Bike Race 2200km – with an altitude of 30.000 meter within less than 6 days. My qualification for Race Across America – the so-called RAAM in 2014.
This all means: lots of work! However , what does it really means:
As the saying is in German … only our duty which we do not accomplish makes us feel tired … not the duty we definitely do. So go ahead continue the work we have begun …
See you soon !
Yours,
Achim

Hello dear Fitliner & Fans,
… Following a defeat, you do never really know how you should start again … I took part in the hardest Race in Europe … it justifiably bears its name … thus nobody succeeded in my age yet … also I was the oldest at this Race … and it might really have come a little bit too early for me … not because I was not enough trained … in no way … though because you need to be well experienced to be able to go optimally through this Race … you need experience … also you need the best of training in the mountains …
After 20 years of extreme running, it was my first big international Race … and having said that , there is so much to improve … as an example … drive down the mountain passes much faster … for my case , it ends up at 55 .. the best drive down was approx.. 80 … as a matter of fact , I lost so much time a.s.o. … it was not up to the Crew … the Crew was on TOP … I personally underestimated this Race … it has been like a punition for me … it remembers me 10 years back at Badwater – Race USA … at which I had also to accept one of my first biggest defeats … therefore as you can see, I am still there … during this Race … somewhere .. somehow.. I run out of time … and I would never have succeeded within the permitted time … DNF … those three letters of the alphabet which mostly hurt a sportsman … subsequently I have now also failed to qualify for the RAAM – 2013 … which hurts me twice as much … though when you have failed then you have to stand up … and this is what I will do ….
See you soon
Achim….
Dear Fitliner , dear Fans,
after 17 weeks of hard training including my participation in 3 preparation races I exceeded the 13,000 km mark. That’s an average of 764 km – not too bad ![]()
The next days I will reduce my training in order to get ready on time for the Race Around Austria just on time: 15 August 2012, 10.36 h Those 2,200 km with an altitude of 30,000 m have to be finished in 5 days. www.racearoundaustria.at
I feel great and a super crew is supporting me and of course my Fitline products which I have been taking for 12 years and which have never disappointed me.
Have a look at: www.heukemes.fitline.com
It’s a hot competition, the RAA, all other competitors are 20 – 25 years younger than I. But: “It only ends when it is finished”. And I feel really great. Join me and send mails or messages, as this is motivating.
And we will be on air again with: Hello Germany! Moderated by the same person as during the c2c in the States.
The highest point of the race will be the: “Hoch Tor” – 2504 m at the “Grossglockner”. See the photo from Mai – zero degrees Celsius.
See you soon,
Achim
P.S. –
For my Austrian Fitliners ….. we will see us at the start and en route
Exactly one year ago on 25 June 2011 I started my largest project: Coast2coastandback – the double crossing of the States!
New York – San Diego – 6000km Bike.
San Diego – New York – 5000km Run.
Nonstop in 79 days. In commemoration of the victims of 11 September 2001 and for the Flag of Honor.
I want to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU again to my small Fitline crew, Andrea, & Markus, who I always could rely on.
Thus I made the impossible possible. Finishing on 9/11 at Battery Park/New York City amongst 3000 Flags of Honor.
Many friends for example Vicky and Rolf, Gaby, Petra, Torsten, Karla, Mayk and many more gave me an unforgettable reception.
There had been some brutal days during the project ( 6 days New Mexico) which I will never forget… as it were the worst days in my whole successful career.
But there had been many wonderful moments too.
Now, one year later I am in front of a new challenge again. This time I will “only” be on my bike (I am still young – thanks to the Fitline products).
The qualification for the Race Across America (RAAM) 2013 is waiting! The Race Around Austria (RAA ) – a bike race of 2,200 km filled with 28,000 m altitude through Austria, time limit: 6 days!
You see, I will write athletic history again at the gentle age of 60! J
Stories told by life.
See you soon,
Achim
